How to Repair a water damaged phone?

Water damage is one of the most common problems with smartphones. If you’ve ever dropped your phone in water, or spilled liquid on it, you know how frustrating it can be to try and fix it.

Your phone falls in the water and all of a sudden, it won’t turn on. What do you do? Water damage is one of the most common reasons for phones to be sent in for repair, but it’s also one of the easiest problems to prevent. Here are a few tips on how to protect your phone from water damage and what to do if it gets wet anyway.

1. The first thing you need to do is remove the battery

The first thing you need to do is remove the battery. This will prevent the phone from accidentally turning on and draining the battery.

If your phone has a removable battery, take it out. If your phone doesn’t have a removable battery, move on to the next step.

If your phone has a SIM card, remove it too. This will prevent the phone from ringing or connecting to the internet if someone tries to call it.

Now that the phone is powered off, you can start cleaning it. Wipe down the screen and body with a damp cloth using circular motions. Try not to get any liquid inside of the ports or buttons.

2. Place it in a bowl of rice for at least 24 hours

This will help remove any moisture that may be in the device.

• If there was water damage, place phone-in -a-bag-of rice for 24 hours
• Turn on device and check to see if all of your data is still there
• If not, restore using a backup or contact manufacturer/Apple support with concerns about lost data.

After it has been removed from the rice, you can then start to test it to see if it is working properly. Turn on the device and check to see if all of your data is still there. If it is, then you are good to go! If not, then you will need to try and restore your device using a backup.

If you don’t have a backup, then you may lose some of your data. In this case, I would recommend contacting Apple or the manufacturer of your device for support. They may be able to help you recover some of your lost data.

3. Dry out the phone with a hairdryer or put it in an airtight container with silica gel packs

If your phone has gotten wet, you can try to dry it out with a hairdryer or by putting it in an airtight container with silica gel packs. Make sure the phone is completely dry before turning it on. If you turn on a wet phone, it could short-circuit and be ruined.

If you’re not able to get the water out of your phone and it’s still not working, you may need to take it to a repair shop. Water damage can cause serious problems for phones and can sometimes be too costly to fix. So if your phone has been exposed to any amount of water, try drying it out as soon as possible!

4. Put your phone into a Ziploc bag and submerge it in water, then take it out after 10 minutes

The phone will still work, but the water will cause some damage. The extent of the damage depends on how long the phone was in the water and the type of phone.

If you accidentally drop your phone in a pool or another body of water, don’t panic! Try this tosave it.
